The Path of persephone

goddess of spring ~ Queen of the underworld

In her youth, she was called Kore, meaning maiden or girl. Persephone was raised in the Overworld, working alongside her mother, Demeter, goddess of the harvest, to tend to the land and care for humans on Earth. Until one day, the ground opened beneath her, and she was abducted by Hades and forcibly brought to the Underworld.

She officially becomes Queen of the Underworld after she consumes six seeds from the Pomegranate. Once someone eats the forbidden fruit, they are eternally tied to the Underworld. But, in the case of Persephone, Zeus and Hades make a deal, forcing the goddess to only spend six months at a time in the Underworld and thus allowing her to return to Earth above for the other six months of the year. Because when Persephone was first stolen, Demeter was so distraught over the loss of her daughter and searched far and wide to find her, abandoning all her duties as a goddess, which brought the very first winter upon the lands. Only once Persephone returns does she bring Spring and life back to the planet. And the seasons are formed as a result of Persephone’s power.
